Doing Small Things

Doing Small Things

Clyde and Dee Kilough

All of us at times feel inadequate over not doing something great and earthshaking. This doubt about our skill and worth can lead to constant worry and dissatisfaction. However, there is no need to feel incapable just because we are not accomplishing something of ultimate importance and magnitude; we can build confidence and skill by continually doing small things. Our Creator knows the value of doing little things well. He knows that we will carry the same values on to bigger things. He blesses those who are faithful in the small things by giving them increasingly larger responsibilities (Luke 19:17).

The lessons learned by completing small jobs are the same needed for doing larger things. We are told that even the giving of a glass of water to another does not go unnoticed (Matthew 10:42). The size or amount of what we do is not as important as the quality of care we exhibit in the things we do. Work happily on the small things. You are preparing for the larger and greater.
